Lending a lifting hand

Moving large, uniquely shaped objects is nothing new for us. For more than 50 years, the Thompson family has been manufacturing these very same large and unusual vessels for the chemical and petroleum industries. We’ve also had the responsibility to transport and install them. Now in its third generation, we are using our extensive experience to operate NexGen Crane & Rigging.

  • A LITTLE HISTORY

Our Story

Our roots date back to 1972 when Bill Thompson started Bill’s Welding Shop. With the right skills and an unflinching work ethic, the company evolved into Thompson’s Welding Service, an industry leader in manufacturing large and unusual vessels for the chemical and petroleum industries. Out of a need to move those vessels, NexGen was born. Today, NexGen is led by CEO Barry Thompson and COO Brent Thompson. With locations in Mississippi and Alabama, we exist to lend a helping hand to the progress throughout the southeast. As anybody who works here will tell you, our company is built on honesty, safety, and excellence in our field.
